The Company is committed to providing quality environmental testing services to it’s clients. As a natural extension of this service, the company and its employees share a fundamental responsibility to protecting our environment. To support this goal the company and it’s employees will:

– Continually improve the environmental performance of our services
– Use natural resources as efficiently as possible
– Promote environmental awareness to employees of the company

The Company will make every effort to ensure that environmental performance is an integral part of its performance as well as the performance of its employees.

ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY POLICY STATEMENT

Nordon Corporation recognizes the need to enhance its environmental stewardship to reduce the impact of its business on the environment. To meet this mission, Nordon Corporation concentrates on three general business practices: 1) Efficient Use Fuel, Electricity, and Water; 2) Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP); and 3) Reuse and Recycle.

1. Efficient Use of Fuel, Electricity, and Water- Nordon Corporation strives to use fuel, electricity, and water efficiently in the performance of its activities.

  • Whenever possible, emission testing projects are scheduled in order to test emission sources in general proximity (bundling) during a single trip.
  • Nordon employees combine technical/promotional visits to customers at the same time as projects in the same general location to reduce fuel usage.
  • Deliveries of required products (electronics, compressed gases, etc.) to the Nordon office are usually bundled to reduce overall fuel usage.
  • Nordon offers telecommuting options to employees.
  • Nordon encourages carpooling when work schedules align appropriately.
  • Nordon encourages employees to purchase full electric vehicles by paying for vehicle charging costs at the office.
  • Programmable thermostats are install at the Nordon office to reduce the amount of electricity used during off-hours.
  • LED and fluorescent lighting is purchased to reduce electricity use.
  • Nordon office maintains a natural landscape that does not require any water usage.

 

2. EPP- Nordon procures products that have reduced effect on health and environment.

  • Nordon purchases computers, servers, and printers from manufacturers that meet the Electronics Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) standards.
  • Nordon purchases shipping materials that are recyclable, reusable, and bio-degradable.
  • Nordon purchases paper products that are 100% post-consumer recycled, when available.

 

3. Reuse and Recycle- Nordon Corporation has requirements whenever possible to reuse or recycle items that might otherwise be discarded in the trash.

  • Cardboard boxes and packing materials received from deliveries are stored to be used to deliver equipment for repair.
  • Nordon often purchases used electronics
  • A receptacle for metals, plastics and other recyclable materials is located in different areas of the office, and these materials are recycled using the local recycle programs

 

In the end, sustainability activities are not only good for the environment but also economical. The Nordon sustainability committee strives to discover other areas that can explored in the future.
